Overview:

The Black Peak Expedition is a challenging and thrilling 16-day adventure in the Garhwal Himalayas of Uttarakhand. Black Peak (Kalanag) stands tall at 6,387 meters and offers an exhilarating mountaineering experience, combining high-altitude trekking, glacier travel, and technical climbing. The expedition provides stunning views of the Bandarpunch and Swargarohini ranges, lush meadows, and remote Himalayan landscapes. Perfect for experienced climbers, this expedition is a test of endurance, skill, and passion for mountaineering.

Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrival in Dehradun

  • Arrive in Dehradun and transfer to hotel.
  • Briefing and preparation for the expedition.

Day 2: Drive from Dehradun to Sankri (1,920 m)

  • Scenic drive (8-9 hours) through Mussoorie and Naitwar to reach Sankri.
  • Overnight stay in Sankri.

Day 3: Trek from Sankri to Taluka (2,400 m)

  • Short drive to Taluka, followed by a trek to the village.
  • Camp overnight near Taluka.

Day 4: Trek from Taluka to Osla (2,600 m)

  • Trek through dense forests, crossing rivers and remote villages.
  • Overnight stay in Osla.

Day 5: Trek from Osla to Ruinsara Lake (3,600 m)

  • Ascend to the beautiful Ruinsara Lake, surrounded by alpine meadows.
  • Camp overnight at the lake.

Day 6: Acclimatization at Ruinsara Lake

  • Rest and acclimatization day.
  • Explore the surrounding areas and prepare for the high-altitude climb.

Day 7: Trek from Ruinsara Lake to Black Peak Base Camp (4,400 m)

  • Steep ascent through meadows and moraines.
  • Set up base camp and acclimatize.

Day 8: Acclimatization at Base Camp

  • Rest and acclimatization day to prepare for higher altitudes.

Day 9: Trek from Base Camp to Advance Base Camp (5,000 m)

  • Climb to the Advance Base Camp for better acclimatization.
  • Overnight stay at Advance Base Camp.

Day 10: Load Ferry and Prepare for Summit Push

  • Gear up for summit day by ferrying equipment and supplies.
  • Return to Advance Base Camp.

Day 11: Summit Attempt (6,387 m)

  • Early morning start for the summit push.
  • Technical climb over snow and ice to reach the peak.
  • Return to Advance Base Camp after summiting.

Day 12: Reserve Day for Summit

  • Extra day for summit attempt in case of bad weather.

Day 13: Descend from Advance Base Camp to Base Camp

  • Descend back to Base Camp after the summit.

Day 14: Trek from Base Camp to Osla

  • Long descent from the base camp to Osla village.

Day 15: Trek from Osla to Taluka and Drive to Sankri

  • Final trek to Taluka followed by a drive to Sankri.

Day 16: Drive from Sankri to Dehradun

  • Scenic drive back to Dehradun.
  • Departure from Dehradun.
