Day 1 : Arrival at Land of High Passes
- Board a flight to Leh, a thrilling journey that offers stunning aerial views of the Himalayan landscape.
- Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel from the airport.
- We recommend that you take it easy on this day to allow your body to adjust to the high altitude.
- You’ll need to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water throughout the day and can take a leisurely orientation walk around Leh to acclimatize gradually.
- Enjoy a quiet evening, perhaps with a warm cup of herbal tea, as you prepare for the upcoming adventures.
- Rest well to ensure you’re fully acclimatized for the exciting journey that lies ahead.
Day 2 : Leh Sightseeing
- Begin your day with breakfast and visit to Shanti Stupa, a symbol of peace and tranquility.
- Take time for quiet contemplation and soak in the spiritual ambiance of the stupa.
- Then explore the historic Leh Palace, a magnificent structure that reflects the rich cultural heritage of Ladakh.
- Wander through the palace’s courtyards, halls, and rooms, gaining insights into the royal history of the region.
- Later on immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere of Leh Market, a bustling hub of local culture and commerce.
- Indulge in some authentic Ladakhi cuisine at a local eatery.
Day 3 : Medical Check-Up
- On this day you will undergo a medical health check-up that is mandatory as per the Government guidelines.
- Upon receiving the results, trekkers will obtain clearance and necessary documents such as permits and insurance before commencing the trek.
- Before the morning of the 4th day, if you feel that you want to opt-out, or have been deemed unfit by the government bodies you can take a physical wild card and opt for a ‘Flavor of winter Ladakh’ tour, without any extra cost.
Day 4 : Drive to Chilling & Trek to Tilat Sumdo
- Begin your journey with a scenic drive from Leh to Chilling, a charming village.
- The road goes up along the Zanskar and spot the frozen sheets of ice forming on the river already.
- An hour and half more along the Zanskar brings you to Chilling. The road goes a few km beyond Chilling. Drive ahead until you can see the end of the road from where you will leave the road and start the Chadar trek.
- Encounter diverse landscapes, from rocky terrain to meadows and, possibly, river crossings.
- The Tilat Sumdo campsite comes within an hour of your trek.
- Reach Tilat Sumdo campsite, set up camp, unwind, and relish the tranquility of the campsite.
Day 5 : Tilak Sumdo to Shingrak (An Approx. of 10 Kms. Trek taking 5-6 hours)
- You can have breakfast and prepare to leave the campsite.
- The morning walk on the Chadar may feel like a walk inside a deep freezer.
- Your face should be the only exposed skin but it’s enough to give the deep freeze feeling.
- Depending on the route, be prepared for river crossings, adding an adventurous element to your trek.
- Midway around noon, find a sunny section where your cook will quick hot meal of Maggie and tea.
- Once you reach the Shingra Koma is a big camping ground is right below a huge stone wall.
- Set up your camp in Shingrak, surrounded by the tranquility of the mountainous landscape.
Day 6 : Tsomo/ Hotong to Shingrak (An 5 Kms Trek taking 3-4 hours)
- The day will begin with a morning tea and breakfast, before you proceed for the next campsite at Tsomo Paldar.
- The trek involves walking on Frozen river, so penguin walk while treading on an icy surface will be a good idea.
- Penguin Walk is when you do not lift your feet too much off the ground while walking, just walk like a penguin.
- This will definitely help you walk on the slippery ice without much falling.
- The trek towards Hotong is much dependent on the chadar’s condition, if there is the slightest chance of breaking of ice, we will camp at Tsomo Paldar.
- Enjoy the night at the campsite in Tsomo Paldar/ Hotong.
Day 7 : Tsomo/ Hotong to Return to Shingrak
- After having a hot breakfast, get ready to leave for Shingra Koma.
- If you are lucky enough you can spot wild animals like snow leopards, ibex and foxes.
- You can almost be sure that you are being watched by one.
- Once you reach back to Shingrak set-up camp and relax the last night on the Ice trek.
Day 8 : Shingrak to Talat and Drive back to Leh
- After hot breakfast start your trek from Shingrak towards Talat.
- Enjoy the scenic landscapes along the way.
- Spend the day exploring the surroundings of Talat.
- Depending on the location, you may have the opportunity to visit local villages.
- After the exploration drive back to Leh and transferred to the hotel for night stay.
Day 9 : Departure
- After breakfast, you will be checking out of the guesthouse and will get a transfer to the airport.
- Continue with your return journey on the flight.
- The Chadar trek package ends here.
What’s Included
- Camping during the trek on twin sharing basis and hotel stay in- Leh on Day 1, Day 2, Day 3 and Day 8 on twin/triple sharing basis.
- Meals during the trek starting lunch on Day 4 till lunch on Day 8 Trek equipment includes Dome Tents (twin sharing), Siachen sleeping bags, mattress, Helmet, Gaiters, Harness & Carabineers as required.
- Experienced & mountaineering certified trek Leader with first aid certification.
- Services of Guide, Cook and Support team.
- Transport from leh to Road head and return.

- Any expenses incurred on medical examination in Leh.
- Gum Boots will not be provided by us. Please carry your own Gum Boots or buy the same in Leh.
